  • Adagio Holiday Cottage: 2 Double Rooms

In times gone by, the building that is now Adagio holiday cottage was used to grind corn. Work horses would turn the stone grinding wheels that produced flour, which was used in traditional farm baking. In later times, an engine replaced horse power. Still in place are the beams used to support the cogs and various bits of machinery that were used in the corn grinding process. A doorway from what is now Trevena Star allowed movement of the various materials to and from the grinding process.

Adagio holiday cottage is named after a particularly beautiful show jumping pony, which also retired here at Craven Garth. This cottage is all ground floor, with 3 steps up to thedoor and spectacular views across the valley. Sunsets can be seen setting over what was "Blakey Junction" when Rosedale Ironstone railway was in use.

Our spacious holiday cottage opens into the lounge area and leads to the kitchen diner. The kitchen has a washing machine, refrigerator, microwave oven, kettle and toaster. Cooking is by electric hob, with hood and oven. A twin bedroom, bathroom with toilet, a double bedroom, with en-suite and shower. Bed linen and towelling are provided. Heating is by electric night store, with wood burning stove. At the front is a grass area, which is ideal for outside morning breakfasts or evening meals on hot summer days.

  • Corby Wood Holiday Cottage: 1 Double & 1 Twin Room

Corby Wood Holiday Cottage is snuggled between Boothferry and Valencourt. The large window is the original opening where the cart from the working horse was kept, which was reversed into the building. The other part of the cottage to the left of the window, is where "Corby Wood" lived in his stable, originally being a jumping pony from Ireland. When he came to England his name was "Skippy Blue", but as there was already a pony registered in this name, he had to have his name changed to Corby Wood. However we just nicknamed him Skippy. In 1989, along with Boothferry and Valencourt, the building was converted to its present form as a holiday cottage.

Corby Wood Holiday Cottage is a 2 bedroomed cottage which sleeps 4 people with a double bedroom ensuite and a twin bedroom. It is perfect for a small family or as a romantic getaway. Upon entering the cottage you face the turned open tread mahogany handmade staircase, which takes you to the first floor bedroom with ensuite bathroom. The lounge is equipped with comfortable seating and TV and DVD player with WIFI internet access. Today the stone steps, with much wear and evidence of use, remain as tribute to the days when the farm used every bit of space to good advantage.

Today the store room forms part of the lounge and bathroom area, which was a hive of activity in its former days. Now relaxation is its main function.
